Summer Art Fun for Ages 6-9

Each class is designed to spark curiosity and encourage problem solving while introducing a variety of mediums and materials.  With an emphasis on the creative process vs. the finished product, our classes offer a fun, enriching experience.

Sonoma Art School has partnered with the City of Healdsburg Parks and Recreation for this age group. Register with the City at the links below to guarantee your space. Full and partial scholarships are also available.

WEEK 1 (July 1 – 5, no class on July 4)

Introduction to Ceramics

Roll, pinch, coil, and cut as you learn basic techniques of hand building with clay. Practice shaping and attaching pieces of clay together while creating unique works of decorative and functional art like bowls, pots, tiles, and figurines! We will also use stamping and block printing techniques as students create interesting textures and patterns. Please note: We will glaze and fire selected pieces which require two kiln firings, so pieces will not be available for pickup until approximately 14 days after class ends. No experience required. Students who have had experience with clay can hone their existing skills.

Instructor: Taryn Nicoll
